Steps to success

Unlike any other diet, Cambridge Weight Plan offers unique one-to-one Consultant support and an extensive range of fantastic products, with programmes that offer something for everyone whatever your
circumstances or weight loss target.

 

 

 

 

 

Please note that calories given are approximations rather than precise values. We use official food composition tables to calculate the nutritional information for Cambridge Weight Plan products, food lists and recipes. However, the nutrients that all foods contain have natural variations and therefore we are only able to give estimates of the energy and nutrient content.

NICE guidance states that anyone choosing to follow a diet of less than 600kcals should do so under clinical supervision. Your Consultant will explain the process for this. Cambridge Weight Plan can be used as the sole source of nutrition (Step1A) or with conventional food (Step1B or higher).

Sole Source and Sole Source Plus provide rapid weight loss for people with a BMI of at least 25 plus one stone.

The higher Steps offer more gradual weight loss, and are ideal for people wanting to work their way up the Steps to stabilisation by gradually increasing their intake of conventional food.

Your Cambridge Consultant will guide you through the Steps and offer advice on preparation, stabilisation and weight management. They'll also help you in the long term with advice on fitness and establishing a healthy relationship with food.

  • Step 1

    Sole Source

     

    On Sole Source there's no calorie counting or food groups to combine, no weighing and measuring and no books or recipes to follow. Instead there are just two simple, straightforward rules:

    • Eat three or four Cambridge Weight Plan products per day (according to height/gender*).
    • Drink 2.25 litres/4 pints of fluids over the course of the day. **

    * Women below 5'8"/1.73m will have three Cambridge Weight Plan products per day. Women who are 5ft 8in and above will have four, as will men.

    ** You can include tea and coffee, herbal teas, fruit teas and Cambridge water flavourings

    Sole Source Plus

     

    Your daily allowance on Sole Source Plus will consist of:

    Option A:

    • Either four Cambridge Weight Plan products (sachets, porridge, ready-made shakes, bars).
    • PLUS 200ml of skimmed milk.

    or

    Option B:

    • Three Cambridge Weight Plan products (sachets, porridge, ready-made shakes, bars).*
    • PLUS one Sole Source Plus 200kcal meal.

    Drink 2.25 litres/4 pints of fluids over the course of the day. **

    *This is the same regardless of height or gender.

    ** You can include tea and coffee, herbal teas, fruit teas and Cambridge water flavourings.

  • Step 2

    On Step 2 you will:

    • Eat three Cambridge Weight Plan products each day.
    • Eat one portion of protein-rich food plus an 80g portion of vegetables per day.*
    • Drink 425ml (3/4 pint) of skimmed milk (can be added to tea and coffee).
    • Drink at least 2.25 litres/4 pints of fluids over the course of the day.**

    * For example, 245g skinless chicken breast with 80g of broccoli.

    ** You can include tea and coffee, herbal teas, fruit teas, Cambridge Water flavourings and occasional low-calorie/diet drinks, flavoured waters or squashes.

  • Step 3

    On Step 3 you will:

    • Eat two Cambridge Weight Plan products per day (this is essential).
    • Eat one 150kcal breakfast.
    • Drink 284ml (1/2 pint) of skimmed milk or eat 170g of low-fat yoghurt.
    • Eat a salad lunch and a 400kcal evening meal.
    • Drink at least 2.25 litres/4 pints of fluids over the course of the day.*

    You can include tea and coffee, herbal teas, fruit teas,Cambridge Water flavourings and occasional low-calorie / diet drinks, flavoured waters or squashes.

  • Step 4

    On Step 4 you will:

    • Eat two Cambridge Weight Plan products per day.
    • Eat a breakfast of 150kcal or 250kcal.
    • Eat a lunch of 200kcal or 300kcal.
    • Eat a dinner and dessert of 370kcal per day.
    • Drink 284ml (1/2 pint) of skimmed milk, which can be added to your tea and coffee.
    • Drink at least 2.25 litres/4 pints of fluids over the course of the day.*

    * You can include tea and coffee, herbal teas, fruit teas, Cambridge Water Flavours and occasional low-calorie / diet drinks, flavoured waters or squashes.

  • Step 5

    On Step 5 you will:

    • Eat one Cambridge Weight Plan product per day (this is essential).
    • Eat one 300kcal breakfast.
    • Eat one 350kcal lunch plus a 100kcal portion of fruit.
    • Eat one 350kcal dinner and a 150kcal dessert.
    • Drink 425ml (¾ pint) of skimmed milk.
    • Drink at least 2.25 litres/4 pints of fluids over the course of the day.*

    * You can include tea and coffee, herbal teas, fruit teas, Cambridge Water flavourings and occasional low calorie / diet drinks, flavoured waters or squashes.

  • Step 6

    Well done - You have reached your target weight!

    You've worked hard to lose weight and deserve to be congratulated for all your self-discipline and stamina. Think about rewarding yourself with something special – it can be as simple or as elaborate as you like!

    Your aim now is to keep your weight stable and avoid putting any of those pounds back on. Our calorie-banded Steps are designed to help you with stabilisation and then long-term weight management.

    Your Cambridge Consultant will give you lots of helpful advice to help you maintain your new weight.
