Adam Fisher - After

Adam Fisher has almost halved his body weight on the Cambridge Weight Plan and feels he has finally won his life long battle of the bulge.

Adams main weight problems began at the age of 17 when he trained as a chef on a Youth Training Scheme and his weight increased to more than twenty-two stone.

He said: “I’d always been a bit of a glutton but as we lived on a farm I did a lot of manual labour so burnt off the calories. When I started work in the kitchens I had constant access to the vending machine and would drink gallons of coke all day and then beer every evening but without doing any exercise”.

After two years training as a chef, Adam decided he needed a change of career as all his mates were fitter and better off financially! He said “At that time most head chefs are overweight and poor. I saw my mates driving nice cars and thought I need a new career that will boost my bank balance while reducing my waistline!”

Adam then got a very physical job digging holes for basements and all the physical labour meant his weight dropped off and he got down to sixteen stone, quite a healthy weight for his 6’6 frame.

A few years later in 2000 Adam had a bad bike accident and broke his Coccyx. This meant he could no longer do the physical labour he used to do and moved in to a more sedentary management position but without curbing his eating habits. His weight increased to twenty-six stone in only four years!

Desperate to shift the weight once more, Adam tried a very low calorie diet but went off track while on a three week holiday in Florida and gained all the weight once again over a three year period.

In October 2007 Adam vowed to lose the weight once and for all and looked for another very low calorie diet, but wanted one with more variety and one-to-one support. He found the Cambridge Weight Plan and went to visit his local Cambridge Consultant Iris Simmons.

Adam said: “My consultant and I could only guesstimate what I weighed on my first day as the scales didn’t go above 30 stone. I was horrified but I vowed to lose the weight once and for all”.

Surviving the diet challenge of another holiday to Florida, a promotion and Christmas and New Year, Adam has now lost an amazing fourteen stone in ten months!

He said: “I feel amazing; I can now play football with my son in the park, fit in the portaloos at work and don’t have to worry that I’ll get stuck down a hole on site inspections! I have put the glutton in me to rest once and for all”.
