Cambridge Manufacturing Company Limited (CMC) is based in Corby, Northants. CMC is wholly owned by Cambridge Nutritional Foods Ltd (CNF). It was acquired in 2005 by CNF through a management buyout from the previous owners Howard Foundation Holdings Ltd, which in turn was owned by the Howard Foundation (www.howard-foundation.com) - a charitable trust set up by the Cambridge Weight Plan’s creator Dr Alan Howard.
The current owners of CNF are Eileen Skinner, Rob Thompson and John White.
CMC manufactures a range of specialist dietary products including the Cambridge Weight Plan
More than 25 million people have used the Cambridge Weight Plan around the world since it was launched in 1984 (originally as the Cambridge Diet) and CMC export the Plan to more than 20 countries. In 2010, following a major re-branding overhaul, the Cambridge Diet was re-named the Cambridge Weight Plan.
The company does not manufacture or distribute Cambridge Diet products in the USA.
Currently employing around 150 full-time staff, CMC has doubled dry powder capacity to meet the demands of rapidly increasing sales during the past two years. New sachet packing machines have been purchased and a bar production line has also been acquired to extend the product range supplied. An essential part of this expansion was the acquisition of additional warehouse space to add to the existing production plant, which is owned by the company.
In 2009, CMC won a Food Manufacture Excellence Award (Ambient and General Food category).
